Bullet Journal Potion theme Monthly Cover Page

I was so happy with how my cover page turned out, even though I was going for something different. The Potion itself I watercolored on some watercolor paper, just because it's so much easier to blend. The month of July is written in a simple font and hand-lettered on some scrap kraft paper.

The highlight of this theme is that we used stamp ink and blending brushes to create the background. It was so much fun and tied in nicely with my potion theme.
If you have ink stamps lying around, give it a try; go crazy! :p

Did I mention that it is so easy to create unique scenes using this method? We just covered the sections we didn’t want the background with some scrap paper. And it was amazing to see that the ink doesn’t mark on the corresponding page once dried.

On the other side of my cover page, I fell in love with this saying, and it was the perfect finishing touch. By adding quotes, your spreads become not only motivational but meaningful. They lift your spirits and make you fall in love with your bullet journal 🥰

I use this font throughout my theme, and it was effortless to do, don't forget to save it on Pinterest for later.

Anyway, I drew small boxes with some shadows. And most importantly, all the little magical potion doodles are drawn in a fine black liner. It's pretty apparent the background is the star of the show, so I kept the doodles black and white and added a little saying 'Stay Weird' just for fun.

Bullet journal potion theme weekly spreads

Two-week dutch door spread

Do you love using dutch doors in your spreads?

What is a bullet journal dutch door?

When you cut a part of your spread, you have another side when you flip the page, but they are all part of one main spread.

This spread did not feel complete until I colored the whole background black. The dutch door gave me more room to add a week and allowed for a dedicated space for my 'Gratitude.' The scene layout of this spread is shelves and little potion details, test tubes, old books, and spider webs.

Two-Page Weekly Layout spreads

There are so many ways to create weekly layouts. We are always trying different setups to see what works. This weekly layout is so pretty yet functional. There is room for a mini calendar, enough space to jot down all your notes, and cute ink doodles. Not to forget, leaving enough room for a short quote to finalize the aesthetics of this spread.

It is important to note that it is equally important when deciding what layout to go for to consider how much space you need for all your to-do's. My sister adds more art into her spreads because she does not need much room for writing. However, you can adjust to your needs. By drawing your daily boxes till the end of the page, you will have more room to write.

Her last weekly spread of the month is relatively minimal in comparison. She painted small circles with her theme colors and a painted bottle with tiny florals. While there was a lot of white space, she completed the spread with an easy border.

The fantastic benefit of bullet journaling is creating your spreads to your needs. So figuring out what works for you is by trial and error. And soon enough, you will figure out what spreads are keepers!

Bullet journal potion habit tracker

bullet journal potion theme habit tracker

I love old scrolls, and they were perfect for my habit tracker. I colored the boxes in black to fill them in using a gold gel pen throughout the month.

Tip: I used a brown gel pen for all the lines and wrinkles in the scrolls, then used a light tan Tombow marker to smudge the brown gel pen and achieve some smudginess and texture on my scrolls.

The great thing about a potion theme is that it is straightforward to develop creative spreads. Other Bujo themes can be so limiting, but not this potion theme!

While doodles are essential to creating amazing spreads, bujo fonts are equally important. I have the tendency to stick to the same font I'm comfortable with, so I try and get the courage to get creative and try something new.

I have to admit, it is totally worth it, and it certainly does take your bujo spreads to the next level. They are not perfect, but that adds to that perfectly imperfect look.

I’m excited to see what the next month brings, but what are you waiting for? Get your supplies out, give this theme a go, and decide for yourself!
